Cinco de Mayo Reventon w/ Bachaco Bachaco An Explosive High Energy International Groove is the language Bachaco speaks. Since its formation in 2007 the band has managed to successfully blend the Caribbean’s most globally loved Reggae, Dancehall and Ska with South America's own Caribbean legacy rhythm of Cumbia. The marriage of these elements is only possible thanks to the band's own diverse range of nationalities: Venezuelan, Jamaican-American, Colombian-Irish and Puerto Rican. Such a melting-pot allows Bachaco's creativity to flow naturally. Songs are written in English and Spanish interchangeably and the sounds take you on a trip deep through your own paradise, right from the dance floor. WHERE: The Stage 170 NE 38th St Miami, Fl 33137

De La Cruz Collection Most major cities have publicly funded museums — giant freaking buildings full of art. We do things differently in Miami, where private citizens with great art collections step up, open them to the public, and offer tours for school kids. That's culture, baby. For instance, the De La Cruz Collection has a multistory, 30,000-square-foot warehouse at 41st Street on the east side of North Miami Avenue in the Design District. The following visuals will surely inspire you to visit. They have a huge collection of internationally renowned art work, but they also show much love to Miami artists. Submit through their website your portfolio alongside a proposal for an installation, and they might give you up to ,600 to make it a reality in their project room. Do it before the end of January for a chance to make it happen this March. They rotate projects every few months. Adults Beginner Freerunning Course Forget dorky helmets and hand signals. There's a better way to get around town than bicycling. Need to refill the beer fridge? Take a direct path to the grocery store — vault over your neighbor's fence, dodge that rabid dog, scramble across crumbling rooftops, scale the sides of vacant condos, drop into an alley, leapfrog a few festering dumpsters, and you're already at the checkout. This is called freerunning or — if you're French — parkour. Beware, though: Attempting advanced urban acrobatics without proper training could easily lead to a chronic groin injury or a shameful string of trespassing arrests. So before taking your tricks to the streets, get some instruction from the pros at the Miami Freerunning Academy. * The MisfitsThe Misfits

Time: 8:15 pm

The Misfits Marilyn Monroe: She’s arguably the most objectified woman of the 20th Century. Used in her own time by everyone from athletes to playwrights to presidents, she was immortalized by Andy Warhol, turned into a massive sculpture that’s widely regarded as the worst thing to happen to Chicago since the 1871 fire, and most recently served as the sorry excuse for — uh, subject of — NBC’s show Smash. Society’s varying takes on the busty blond bombshell have crystallized into a notion of the actress that’s far removed from the human being she was. Monroe was more than a pretty face, after all; she acted in films alongside some of Hollywood’s biggest names. In The Misfits, for example, she costarred with Clark Gable in what happened to be the last film of both of their careers. It also happened to be one of the best for both, with Monroe earning a Golden Globe Award and critics and Gable himself admitting it was his crowning achievement. Get to know the real Marilyn at Miami Beach Cinematheque (1130 Washington Ave., Miami Beach) Tuesday at 8:15 p.m., when the theater will premiere the high-definition digital restoration of The Misfits. — By Ciara LaVelle Price: - 8:15 p.m. May 8 @ Miami Beach Cinematheque 1130 Washington Ave. Miami Beach, FL 33139

Time: 8:30 am

“Hispanics in America’s Future” CNC will hold its next biennial national conference “Hispanics in America’s Future” on May 17-18, 2012. The conference venue will be the JW Marriott Marquis hotel in downtown Miami, Florida. Almost one in every five Americans is Latino. They total over 50 million. 2012 is a pivotal year when the presence of U.S. Hispanics will be felt in all aspects of American life. According to most projections, the U.S. Hispanic purchasing power, already above trillion, rates among the top world economies. The Hispanic market surge is a sizeable business opportunity as Hispanic-Americans now reside in thousands of communities beyond historical urban centers. Hispanic owned businesses already surpassed the three million mark. Moreover, Hispanic-American citizens whether by birth or naturalization are about to cast decisive votes in local and national elections as they have a large presence in key electoral states. At present, Hispanics are the largest U.S. minority, have the highest population growth rates in the U.S. and are a significant bloc of American tax payers, workers, and business leaders. All of the above will be at center stage during CNC 2012 conference. Participation in this event is a must for business leaders, public policy stakeholders, and community leaders alike. For two days, attendees will hear from local, national, and international experts and leaders.

Pay 0 for 12 sessions and learn how to wall-flip, wing-spin, and reverse-monkey-vault at Monday's Adults Beginner Freerunning Course 6:00 p.m. every Mon. @ Miami Freerunning Academy 1498 NW 78th Ave. Doral, FL 33126
